Cellulite affects women of every weight, body type and fitness level. Genetics, gender, lifestyle and diet play a role in the development and degree of cellulite. The unattractive dimpled, cobblestone appearance of cellulite occurs in eighty five percent of post adolescent women, most commonly on the thighs and buttocks. Caucasian women are more likely to develop cellulite than Asian or African American women. While cellulite is more prominent in overweight women, cellulite can also affect thin, physically fit women.

Cellulite

When is cellulite most likely to develop?

Cellulite first develops at or around puberty and can worsen during pregnancy and periods of significant weight gain.

What causes cellulite?

The etiology of cellulite is not entirely clear but fat organization and distribution, hormonal factors and impaired microcirculation are felt to predispose to visible fat herniation causing the orange peel appearance of cellulite.

How is cellulite evaluated?

Cellulite can be visually graded according to the degree of surface irregularlity and nodularity. Gently squeezing the skin or contracting the gluteal muscles can accentuate the appearance of cellulite.

Is there anything I can do to improve cellulite?

Maintaining an optimal body weight, following a healthy diet and toning muscles in areas affected by cellulite can improve the appearance of cellulite but cannot eliminate cellulite.

Are there any treatments to improve the appearance of cellulite?

While there is no uniformly effective treatment for cellulite, an expanding array of laser and light based technologies, radiofrequency and ultrasound devices are approved and /or being evaluated for the treatment of cellulite. Oftentimes, combining modalities can improve results. Lipomassage with the latest patented Cell M6 Keymodule can be helpful in improving the appearance of dimpled cellulite areas. This non-invasive advanced repetitive "mechanotranduction" stimulation technique triggers lipolysis or fat cell breakdown and stimulates collagen formation, lessening the appearance of cellulite.

Our office utilizes the advanced lipomassage technique to improve the appearance of cellulite.
